Monday 6th July

A frustrating day yesterday with 2 unplaced horses at Haydock and the sight of Turntable and Bollihope (in particular as both warranted an explanation in the analysis) winning and placing at Doncaster; but the tip also finishing unplaced.

The NH season kicks in with a good Card at Uttoxeter, most will fancy something in the big Chase at 3.30 but the more we analysed the more confused the picture got, one of those where you can make a case for just about every horse in the field, but precious little conclusive form and well being evidence and therefore no confidence. A race to watch and enjoy.

The 3.00 race is intriguing and especially MISTER UNIVERSUM for the Skeltons, has had a run, nice mark but upped significantly in trip. They must fancy the horse can get the trip otherwise why waste the "fitness advantage" and surely plenty of others in the Yard who could have run in this race. Not enough evidence for us to tip but one you might like to have a very small wager on.

The only other one who caught the eye was old EXPLAIN up at Thirsk in the 6.30 for Ruth Carr whose horses traditionally need a run and a Yard that usually starts delivering winning in May (second full month of the Flat). The circumstances dictate that in the Racing Calendar this year "July is the new May", so any of her that have had a few runs should be looked at closely. This old boy is clearly not the horse who won off marks in the 80's and off 72 as recently as October 2018, but with a couple of runs, a nice berth in Stall 1 and a mark of 54, surely has to be close to finding a level it can win off.

Those are the thoughts for today, NO TIPS / NO TRACKERS.

We'll be back with a couple of definite Tips / Trackers tomorrow.
