Sunday 19th January
It was a nice feeling to have some winners yesterday after a very frustrating period after we'd banged in some big priced winners, to have really a couple of weeks with very few betting options and no real successes. Safe Destination was a cracking price at 9/1 and although we got the Staking the wrong way around at Navan a 1-2 from Music Of Tara at 12/1 SP and Blaze The Way at 6/1, hopefully blew all of the Irish cobwebs away and sets us up for one of those turbo-charged runs over there that we know Sean and Michael are very capable of.
There isn't really much of interest in Ireland at Thurles today and the meetings at Fakenham and Windor are both being held on ground that Clerk(s) of the Course describe as "tacky"...we call it "pudding" and with a distinct shortage of proven horses in that type of Going, but with the full knowledge that it's the sort of ground that can make a mockery of form, we have decided to forgo the usual format and deliver a carefully analysed Lucky 15 each way accumulator for you to enjoy some TV Racing but not get too involved financially.
We have a main selection in each of the 4 races and also in (brackets) either a reserve in case of a non runner or one at a big price who may overachieve purely because it has proven form in this type of ground!
A final thought and hopefully pertinent is that many horses running at Windsor will have targets in the Spring and Trainers really won't want to bottom them out in deep ground with the big meetings now ust 7-10 weeks away!
