Thursday 22nd August
It is always tough to find big field handicap winners anyway and especially so at York so to find the winner of each of the three handicaps we attacked yesterday with JmJungle at 10/1 from our Northern expert, Extensio at 14/1 from The Advisor and Yes I'm Mali at 12/1 from Carolyn our 2 year old expert, all of those prices being SP must rank as a decent day at the very least. A special mention for our Northern expert, totally out of form earlier in the season but who has sprung to life in the past month, not only finding the winner Jm Jungle but also the 20/1 runner up Jordan Electrics and a gnats ball away from a superb Tricast with brave front runner Democracy Dilemma, just being caught on the line.
Our new expert RJ had a less successful day but having considered what we asked his to do, I don't think we really dealt him a fair hand, looking to beat hot favourites in non handicaps is tough, so today we've allowed him the scope to look at the top end of the markets more and whilst we'll never tip odds on or short odds against, anything in the 3/1 of higher category is fair game.
With a fair amount of rain coming in from the South West and a possible deluge coming in over Ireland we've reluctantly left Leopardstown and Killarney out of deliberations today, we've had a number of races spoilt by non runners in Ireland the past week, so best to wait for more certainty of weather and Going , and Newton Abbot too could get a fair dollop on top of good to Firm Going and it's raining already quite heavily as I write from Brixham, just down the road from Newton Abbot, so again, we'll not guess what may happen there with possible non runners later.
RJ will attack 2 races today, our Northern Expert will attack the red-hot Clipper handicap and Carolyn the 2 year old Nursery Handicap. We'll leave the other 2 year old race and the closing handicap (where Miss Information is in the TRACKER) off the list today together with the opener, The Lowther Stakes.
