Tuesday 24th November

A bit of an unlucky day for us yesterday at Ludlow.

JIMMI CHEW advised at 16/1 went off around 11/1, ran prominently and the fact it clobbered 4 out may just have done for it in a head bobber at the line following a dour battle with Volcano (who we identified as the best win saver option). An excellent bit of analysis and form reading that probably deserved the win rather than a bit of each way shrapnel.

We then saw the confidently tipped AVANTGARDIST badly hampered and ultimately pulled up after a melee in the home straight. I'm not sure it would have won, but looked nailed on a place. It's a canny yard though and one to definitely be on next time I think in a similar race. Once again it paid to follow the "win saver" advice with Bellatrix Lestrange winning.

If you had a small punt on Volcano and Bellatrix Lestrange, you won't be moaning and as we always say luck evens out and on another day Jimmi Chew and Avantgardist may well have won. I'm happier that the analysis is becoming consistent and delivering than the short term fluctuations in one specific day.

Not a lot to enthuse over today, especially at Sedgefield and Southwell, so a trip to Punchestown for a look at the long distance handicap chase, and a pointer in the "Banks race" at the head of the Card.
