Wednesday 5th May

A standstill day yesterday; a bit of net profit if you backed Christmas in USA at the advised 12/1 who finished 5th in a 17 runner field so every bookie should have honoured 5th place Odds who quoted it, and if you were on Findusatgorcombe who faded after a bold and promising run came to a shuddering halt with a bad blunder entering the last circuit, but not on the reserve for the non runner Lord Getaway, you will have broken even, if you took the reserve High Counsel, then a 1 point loss on the day. No complaints about either run and if Findusatgorcombe had not made an error, it may have picked up a bit of place money at best.

Plenty of action today over Jumps on softening ground at Kelso (where more rain and snow is due), Newton Abbott (where going may be a bit softer than advertised), Fontwell (whose Course I mistakenly confused with Fakenham yesterday), and Flat action at Chester and Gowran Park plus some AW bookie fodder.

Day One of The Chester Spring meeting and with the thought that we'll wait another day before believing and trusting fully the Going reports everywhere, a look at the most competitive race on the Card the 7 furlong Handicap at 4.45.

Likely to be 2-3 tip races tomorrow at Chester; Huntingdon and possibly Worcester.
