ROBIN - Chepstow 4.20 Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 2 miles 3 and 1/2 furlongs - 17 run - Soft

 

Some big yards represented here although I think that the form of some of their horses so far suggests they won't be much above moderate but nice stock horses down the line for smaller operations. 

 

Mumbles heads the market for Evan Williams but the price looks short and the horse interestingly makes a Course debut. Danton disappointed last time after showing some promise and I'd like to see a healthy solid run before investing. Deerstalker has 2 and a half mile P2P form and is one that should be winning races at some point and was just left out of the investment list. The same applies to Gods Own Getaway from the in form Skelton yard, who I'm sure will improve in time but hopefully not today. At bigger odds the one who just missed a shrapnel bet was He's My Shadow who had an interesting Course and Distance run last season, yard is in form and added to the TRACKER from after this race and the sole reason why not tipped today is the 235 days break.

 

Ithink that although more exposed than some that  ACCIDENTAL AGENT who fired back to past season form at Uttoxeter last time is still very well handicapped with a 5 lbs penalty and will be a tough nut for any of these to crack if running up to that sort of form. JACK SPRAT has a win off a mark of 95 and placed off higher marks and a mark of 102 with the experience and proven form it has makes it a very solid each way punt.

 

At bigger odds we've surely yet to see the best of the Paul Nicholls trained KRUGER PARK who makes handicap debut and perhaps the most interesting runner anywhere today is CHAMPAGNE RHYTHM. Clearly out of form and a shadow of the 125 rated horse it was in 2021, there have been glimmers over fences and hurdles that alight still flickers and this horse is still only a 9 year old. Evan Williams is capable of restoring form and shows immense patience at times and it strikes me that all this horse needs to get that mojo back is to enjoy a pain free run near the front and find racing fun again, if and when that clicks it is the best part of 2 stones well in....I'm happy to have a small investment.
