Friday 30th August
A big frustration that for the second day running we discarded a 14/1 winner from the final list of likely winners on the basis it was a few pounds higher than we thought ideal, there are fine margins between winning and losing and the wins of Hidden Pearl on Wednesday and Molly Hall yesterday emphasise that. If you were on Red Secret who placed at double figures odds and took the 6th place option recommended with Bet 365 about Whispering Hopes (advised 40/1 returned 28/1) you will have had some each way recompense. No joy at Newbury where The Advisor had a rare off day after a strong recent run of form.
With a lot of the Tracks seeking out the rapidly vanishing daylight hours we have a number of afternoon and twilight Fixtures which means small field sizes to the point there are very few races with 10 or more runners in the UK. No such problem in Ireland so will attack a 16 runner Handicap Chase at Wexford and a 20 runner Handicap Hurdle at Down Royal. Both races have 3 reserves lined up too so plenty of enhanced place opportunities are on offer.
