Monday 22nd July

A nice runner up effort from Whatwouldyouknow at Redcar yesterday and probably a shade unlucky not to win at nice e/w odds, just seeing one catch it close home coming over the top. Crossing The Bar returned to some sort of form too for a place at Newton Abbot and hopefully will gain confidence from that run. A rare blank in Ireland for us at The Curragh, we were clearly "done by the draw" on the day with Low Numbers dominating. It can happen there and in that regard it's a bit like Ascot, and one reason why we don't dive in with too many selections at that venue.

It's a tricky day today, competitive Cards at Cartmel over the Jumps, the usual competitive Evening Card at Windsor and a lot of low grade stuff at Ayr and Beverley and a pretty uninspiring Card at Ballinrobe too. The overwhelming view of all of the Tipsters, and which I concur 100% with, is that when sufficient confidence is not there, and there are days like this, in a decent run of form, which we are in, it's best not the guess and tip for the sake of it. We've speculative tips in a couple of races which I will outline below, but they should be seen for what they are, suggestions NOT tips and we won't be classing them as tips.

-------

Cartmel 3.20 - Shantou Sunet is added to the TRACKER from today, may need return but likely to be winning when fit and most likely here. The stable run Native Fighter who is thrown in on old form but may be regressing now even for Moffatt + Jones at this Track. If there is one to keep an eye out for at BIG odds it is ROBERT D'ORES a nice runner up at Hexham last May, then fell back there when having race at his mercy, excuses and unlucky since, could outrun big e/w Odds.

Ballinrobe 7.40 - We've added Rocky Blue to the TRACKER after today, several have shown signs of promise, among them Gardone and Albatala but overall it looks between Forlio ; Mayo For Sam and Enquire Within at the top of the market with very little each way value and very closely rated. If there is a dark horse though it may be INTEND, who i a slow starter who finishes best, runs at Naas and Navan (very different tracks to here) suggest ability. Drawn 16 would normally be a negative here but as a slow starter, may help as the horse can be easily dropped in and then try to ease way though from cover and finish fast.

Windsor 8.20 - added Lawn Ranger to TRACKER as got some good Course and Distance form and would definitely have been a tip here but for fact it needs Good to Soft or Softer and gets hated Good to Firm here, we can and will be patient and wait for a run over Course and Distance on suitable ground.
