Monday 9th December

My biggest frustration this Autumn has not been the form of the Tipsters, granted it's not great in some cases but I would argue very strong in other cases, but the fact that whether it be lack of rain for long periods, too much rain on a few occasions and then other blips with high winds and storms, that we have never really been able to get in to a nice rhythm with a few races with decent fields each day to attack. I feel very much that when those chances have come along we have taken them, but what we really need now is a sustained 3-4 weeks with the ammunition to attack in terms of competitive medium-big field handicaps. Tipping and Punting is no different. I've always maintained it is like being a goalscorer, a run scorer, having a red hot putter etc, when you're hot you're hot but the worst enemy in that rhythm that breeds confidence.

After two non runners in our opening salvo at Kelso yesterday we had an excellent 1-2 with Bretney and Your Own Story both at double figure SP odds and whilst Sean had his reserve (One Big Boum) winning at Cork, he once again found an absolute each way stunner with Junior Rattler confidently picked from amidst a field of 20 plus at very nice odds. If another one of that type, King Ferdinand had grabbed the widely available 5th place at big odds, instead of the 6th place (that only Sky paid out for so NOT included) it would have been the icing on the cake.

There are AW Fixtures at Newcastle and Wolverhampton today and high winds could again cause a lot of problems for some horses, so we'll attack a couple of competitive looking races, a Handicap Hurdle at Musselburgh and a very competitive looking Handicap Chase in the mud at Lingfield.
