Saturday 6th July

A few decent place runs yesterday from William Ewart and Eastern Wind and KIng Sharla, who just missed out on a place, showed clear signs that it's turn is not far away and one we will definitely continue to track forwards.

The main Cardstoday are at Sandown and Haydock, both have rain forecasts and we've taken that into account with selections. There is a very competitive Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown, where Michael has a couple of contrarian big priced suggestions for small stakes and some compelling logic to back them up.

We looked closely at the 2 year old races but will return to them in the coming days once the rain gets in to the ground properly and we can add that "Going"influence into the pedigree research required for this type of race.

We also looked long and hard at the Cardsat Leicester; Nottingham and Carlisle but one thing stands out at all 3 Tracks. Rain in the forecast and overnight last night, Good to Firm ground reported, artificial watering confirmed. That mix of Good to Firm, watered ground and then significant rain is a massive WARNING CLAXON in terms of sensible punting. There are likely to be significant numbers of non runners and it's frankly impossible to know exactly what underfoot Conditions will be. Patience is a virtue in these cases and in the coming days with the rain forecast, we will have ample chances of finding suitable horses in genuinely Good to Soft and Soft ground.
