Sunday 17th January

A fair enough day yesterday with the win of Imperial Alcazar ensuring a net profit on the day in a race where the fall of Flemcara when in contention to place at least saw sadly 2 horses brought down and sadly fatally injured and our commiserations to connections of Espion and Ardlethen. The fact that the carnage that ensured allowed the gallant Saint Dalina to run into an enhanced 4th place having been advised at 25/1, was of absolutely no comfort and I'm sure we'd all give that profit back to have the horses involved fit and well in their stables this morning. The sad demise of Mohayyed at Market Rasen capping a day to forget on that front.

We'd had a couple of enhanced places earlier from Le Breuil and Captain Chaos in a race where the better than anticipated Going went against the former and the latter ran a brave race and over in Ireland, nothing wrong with the run of Tokyo Getaway who was runner up to the incredibly progressive and it seems unstoppable Ballyshannon Rose, up something like 40 pounds it seems (30 prior to yesterday and likely more to come from the handicapper).

No NH in the UK today with Kelso off, we'll leave Southwell AW well alone and have a look at a competitive if a bit disappointing Punchestown Card with some tips and betting angles from Sean
