Thursday 26th September
A mixed day at Listowel, an excellent win for Donkey Years advised at 14/1 and returned 17/2 in a race with a few non runners including the well fancied Macgiloney, where experience told. A less successful result though in the Kerry National where The Goffer and Hurricane George, and indeed most of the field were outclassed by an excellent Handicap Chase debut run by Flooring Porter. I know our Irish guys have always rated the horse over Hurdles but both of them were also surprised at the front running jumping display over fences. A few chances taken over the fences but you make your own look and the horse looks so comfortable cruising at speed that it's the best way for them to let the horse run.
There is Racing again today at Listowel but nothing that stands out and with small fields at Perth over the Jumps and some AW at Southwell, we'll have a bash on the first day of what could be a wet 3 days at Newmarket and also at a race at Pontefract, where some rain is also anticipated.
