Thursday 5th December
It's a bit of a shock to realise that 3 weeks today the Christmas Festivities will morph into Boxing Day and the start of what is traditionally a great week of Horse Racing. Lets just hope that between now and then we get some decent rainfall to deliver perfect Jumping ground and stay free of frost, ice and snow, at least in the crucial final week of 2024.
We had a runner up effort on the AW yesterday with Tortured Soul at 8/1 at Kempton where the mentioned outsider Blue Collar ran well in third at 18/1. No joy earlier at Lingfield although the very slow starting The Colorist is one to keep an eye on and similarly the fast starting Nancy P, who got the fractions all wrong, may also be one to make amends if settling.
There are small fields over the jumps at Market Rasen today, 48 runners in 7 races, not much better at Leicester with 53 runners in 7 races. Chelmsford on the AW is a venue we swerve, but a decent Card at Wincanton gives us at least one very competitive Handicap Chase with 13 declared and we have a couple of longer term prospects "to keen an eye on" in an interesting Mares Novice Hurdle (non handicap) race.
