Tuesday 18th February

A third place, so placed finish from Atlanticexpress (advised 14/1 returned 15/2 SP) in the first tip race at Carlisle yesterday after Always A Reason was declared a non runner. In the second race the advised Nights In Venice was placed third (advised 11/1 returned 8/1 SP), Indian Louis was runner up (advised 8/1 returned 10/1 SP) and the mentioned main danger and third rated Hello Judge won at 7/1. A shame they finished 3 - 2 -1 in Ratings order and not 1-2-3 but as always the consistency of the analysis is an indicator of overall form and our Northern Expert has hit a recent good seam of consistency with some big priced winners.

Unfortunately today brings VERY LITTLE OPPORTUNITY. There are just 45 runners spread across 7 races at Market Rasen and nothing caught the eye in terms of each way value. At Taunton, there are 23 runners in the 3 Handicaps and although there are a couple of decent Maiden Races, with 11 and 12 runners, the 3.05 looks to be dominated by the top three in the market, the Hunter Chase has an odds on favourite and the 2.35 Maiden has a number making Course debut. The AW Fixture at Wolverhampton is utter Bookie fodder. Indeed one very well respected scribe has analysed the worrying number of horses running there who are having just 7-10 days between regular races at the Track. He suggests, and it's hard to argue, that the ARC AW Tracks are becoming very close to Greyhound tRacks, where the same animals are just paraded out once a week to provide Bookie fodder.

IF there is one horse we suggest you keep a close eye on today and may be a small investment (small e/w) it;s the newcomer I LIKE IKE in the 2.35 at Taunton. You have to remember it's very early days but it's a young horse with a very decent NH pedigree being sired by Jack Hobbs who is one of the better and more consistent NH sires these days.
