Wednesday 23rd October

A nice win from Earth King in the sole tip race yesterday, that proven fitness saw the price fall gradually from 17/2 down to 7/2 by start time.

We looked a bit outside the box at the opening Maiden Hurdle at Fontwell for some selections today but it does look like quite a deep race in terms of some nice types from big Yards and the same applies to another one we considered, the closing race, a 2 year old Nursery Handicap at Newmarket, but once again a race stacked with some nice looking prospects where the top end of the market looks most likely to prevail.

So, we'll go to Navan where there are 2 Divisions over a stamina testing 1 mile 6 furlongs on Yielding ground. The fact that a dry day is forecast, with hopefully a lot less non runners as a result, than of late, gives Michael some scope with a confident main selection and a pair of fancied others in the 2 races both with 20 runners declared and therefore guaranteed enhanced places.
