Wednesday 25th September
When a reserve, like No Way Pedro, appears at the shoulder of a tip who has led all of the way, apparently on the bridle at 25/1 and wins, you know it's just not your day. Very brave runs from Ruby's Reward and Danzini (who finished 3rd) in that race, and who perhaps didn't get the return they deserved. Poor at Beverley on the Flat and it's time to slowly start to transition away from very moderate Flat meetings and just focus on the better quality ones now as the NH season starts to ramp up.
We've Flat Turf today on bottomless ground at Goodwood, very moderate quality at Redcar, NH with small fields at Perth, some AW and a big NH day at Listowel, where we will try to crack the Kerry National and a 3 mile Handicap Hurdle.
Some very concise work from Michael and Sean today does not reflect a lack of analysis, far from it, but in both instances, they have honed in on just a couple in each race that carry real optimism and confidence. Underlining comments from both is the chance of early overnight rain and some Showers here on a Course that can very quickly turn from Good to Yielding to something softer and a Course where once it gets softer can become a real stamina test.
