Wednesday 27th November
A decent day for Sean yesterday with his 3rd rated Danesfort Mayfly at 10/1 SP (advised at 16/1) just getting the better of He Fitz In, which was somewhat frustrating and unfortunate as he was a main tip, whose returned an SP of 8/1 (advised at 12/1). One to definitely note too is I Am Rocco who finished 5th at 9/1 (well backed in from 20/1) and one who looks like he can pick up a small race soon. Far less joy for Michael whose speculative selections failed to deliver with the exception of Starlight Cato, an enhanced and widely available 4th at 14/1 SP.
The Jump Fixtures at Wetherby and Hereford both have imminent inspections at about 7.30am but we have decided to swerve both. I think it's important to give the context and reasons why though. The Clerk Of The Course at Wetherby has explained that large parts of the back-straight are under water but to get the Meeting on if they can find a safe route down the straight they will race but with most of the fences down there dolled off as they won't be safe to jump. I think it's excellent that he has given this prior knowledge and it gives us a chance to decide what to do. At Hereford overnight rain may cause problems for the Track, but again of far greater concern are the number of impassable Roads in; around and on major Routes into the city, especially from the Worcester side and from the main routes from West Wales. That may mean a fair number of non-runners for "travel problems" , especially any coming up from the badly flooded South Wales. Once again, credit to the Clerk Of The Course for making this public knowledge, and it's the sort of thing we do look for and therefore can't ignore!
That leaves an AW Fixture at Dundalk and a Jumps Meeting at Market Rasen. There aren't too many options there but we've asked RJ to look for some each way value and he has a single each way tip in an 11 runner Novice Handicap Chase and a 10 runner Handicap Chase on likely Soft ground.
