A nice win for Robin with Chancycourt at Bangor On Dee was the sole winner yesterday, that and the lack of placed horses was disappointing but at least ended a long spell without a winner on days when I have delivered the selections, a pure coincidence, but we all have our superstitions, so hopefully my hex is broken!
The logic of looking at race fitness in early season NH races is far less relevant than it once was but still has merit on occasions but didn't work out this time for RJ at Chepstow in a race that will probably throw out a glut of future winners in the coming weeks and months. No joy at Catterick on one of our last turf Flat tip races of 2024.
Very few options present themselves today, small and therefore largely market toppers most likely at Fakenham and Newton Abbot and on heavy Going at Nottingham and the AW Card at Kempton looks a bit naff too.
Michael had some decent successes on a small number of races attacked at Dundalk last winter and whilst he'll focus on the Jumps again with Sean, when needed he will look long and hard at Dundalk AW and he hopes to have found a couple of speculative selections for a small investment there this afternoon, the key word is "small"...
