Bayard - Carlisle 1.35 2 Saroque 13/2 / 6 Fill The Power 16/1 (BV/EH) - both e/w
Carlisle is as tough a track as there is, stamina sapping hill and a right handed configuration,
the going is Good to Soft, but its a northern track, so that means soft at best and we look for
proven Course form and stamina where possible. The long Distance Chase at 1.50 is a decent
race of its type and although Dr Newland has a short priced favourite we think two horses who
have won for us in the past, are on very nice marks today. SAROQUE as Bayard points out
is always a danger when under a mark of 130, arrives here off a mark of 124, and trip; going;
and right handed are all fine. FILL THE POWER; is a horse we have to go back a bit further
for a win for us, and some very solid form, but 2 runs this season have got him fit and on
past form his mark of 122 here looks mighty appealing. He is only 10, still has scope to win
this type of race and Sue Smith and Danny Cook are formidable in these races up North,
at 16/1 he is worth an each way punt if coming back to even 95% of his capabilities.
