THE ADVISOR - Aintree 2.45 - Great Sefton Handicap - National Course - 2 miles 5 furlongs -10 run - Heavy

 

The Going stick here is "off the scale" and it's hard to know exactly what the ground is actually like. The National Fences aren't what they were but still deserve respect. I don't think any Trainer will want to bottom a horse at this stage of the season and many will aim to have this and one other run before the New Year and then be aimed at the bigger long Distance races in the Spring.

 

It's easy to have question marks about them all, and hard to have any degree of certainty.

 

However , having looked at all competitors I am most keen at a nice each way price on PERCUSSION who was 3rd in this last year and 3rd in The Beecher over a longer trip, has a win elsewhere in Heavy and off a mark of effectively 128, having placed off 130 and 133, and proven ready fresh in this last year, is actually the only one that ticks every box for me.

 

I would not be at all surprised to see Born By The Sea outrun odds and run as if this is a race they had targeted, the rest we'll really have to wait and see.
