Goodwood 2.45

GOODWOOD 2.45 Golden Mile - Class 2 - 15 run

A low draw bias dominates this market and there are a number of fast starting 7 furlong horses who should ensure an end to end gallop. There are a few specialist 1 mile horses who tend to be "hold up" types but who will be real hostages to fortune in terms of a clear run.

Any race with VALE OF KENT in it ensures one thing and that is it will get to the front and ask them all to play "catch up". It's not impossible that he can make all, he has before, but invariably something comes and collars him in the dying furlong. We'll have a 1/2 point saver as on this kind of ground and with a jockey with a metronome in his head he can give us a great run for our money.

Monatham who has gone up from 89 to 105 in the handicap and Sir Busker who has risen from 92 to 107 are bang "In form" horses who may just now be in the hands of the handicapper. Prompting is best at 7 furlongs but all are real dangers.

Cardsharp did Placespotter followers a real favour last Saturday placed at 28/1 in the race won by confident tip Blue mist and Baltic Baron, who has a tendency to start slowly are also real contenders.

With the pace angle from Vale of Kent though this could set up superbly for CLIFFS OF CAPRI, drawn in stall 4 so should get a nice early position and cover, was runner up in the Blue Mist race last Saturday so clearly in good form, a 1 mile winner and best at the trip and off a nice handicap mark and proven on Good to Firm Going.

The other one at a bigger price who looks real market value is ALMUFTI drawn in Stall 1, a horse who needs Good to Firm Going, a hold up horse but one who could get a nice late passage up the rail if Vale of Kent comes off it and the rest try to come round him in the final 2 furlongs, needs luck in running but if the dice fall can run a big race.

TIP - CLIFFS OF CAPRI / Trackers Almufti + Vale Of Kent.
