Ludlow 4.19
THE ADVISOR - Ludlow 4.19 - Amateur Jockey Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 2 miles 5 and 1/2 furlongs - 12 run - Good to Soft
A run of the mill race at face value but some big Yards represented here, Henderson, Daly, Skelton, Newland, NT-D , FO-B etc.
Chives for Henderson has form figures of 1131-1 and is upped another 3 lbs to a mark of 115, it's going to be tough to beat but I want to take it on in what could be a competitive race. Blenkinsop for Henry Daly is upped in trip on handicap debut and frankly could be anything!. Tiger Orchid is a Course winner and has won over this distance and runs for the Newland Yard, it's better though in smaller fields and possibly in better ground, especially with some showers likely all day. Rock Legend for the Skelton team is another that's upped in trip with potential to improve and they go for a tongue tie and cheek pieces to try to optimise the chances of the horse staying the trip.
Locks Corner was once a far better horse than current form and declining handicap marks suggests it now is and could find a level to work off again at any time and is more of a danger here than the market may suggest. Grange Road is in the Tracker (see below) based on Trainer Gary Hanmer and this new recruit from PFN can be winning races once race fit and settled into a yard that does well with similar types. What About time is one we'll TRACK forwards as it's clearly had issues but has shown signs of potential and is likely to need the run off a year break. Iron Heart from the Pipe yard is another who has shown glimmers of promise and is still only a 5 year old. It's a race that could throw up more than a few to follow.
I'm most keen today though on BALLINTUBBER BOY + UNE DE LA SENIERE.
BALLINTUBBER BOY from the Twiston-Davies yard won last time out off a mark of 107, I think it can follow up off a mark of 113 and has won back to back before. I think a handicap mark of 120 after an impressive juvenile win was simply too high at the time and I'll be disappointed if we aren't in the place money at least. UNE DE LA SENIERE from the Fergal O'Brien yard with his daughter in the saddle is a Course and Distance winner last October, is race fit and runs off a mark of 113 which is 3lbs below that winning mark. I think it's more exposed than some in here but the race fitness and Course form can't be ignored.
