Uttoxeter 12.37
Uttoxeter 12.37 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 2 miles 4 furlongs - 16 run - Heavy
With some enhanced place Odds on Offer I want to take on Donald Dux, it should win and if you want a win saver feel free but I'm looking for better value, especially as Donald Dux has no heavy ground form!.
Glencoum Lass and KNOCKNAMONA both won last time. Glencoum Lass won over Course and Distance in soft Going. Is penalised 7lbs up to a mark of 81. Clearly found some improvement last time but it was a moderate race and to date form on Heavy does not inspire confidence. On the other hand KNOCKNAMONA won a Chase at Bangor on Heavy Going and has plenty of Heavy going form at this trip and further. Gets in off a hurdle mark of 80 (Chase mark is 85) and it's last Hurdle winning mark is 84, so looks primed to run well again, and in an absolute mudbath just prefer to strength of the formline.
I would have had a small punt on Shimba Hills if it had run already this season but usually needs seasonal debut and Ah Well could run better at this trip but all best runs are on better Going.
The other one at longer Odds who is worth a small each way punt is FOLLOW YOU FIRE, poor so far this season but now fit for Jennie Candlish. Won at Sedgefield last season on soft off a mid 90's mark and comes from a 3 mile P2P background so now fit and with some proven stamina very few of the others have in profile or pedigree, could run on to a place at least and outrun Odds.
TIP - KNOCKNAMONA - Tracker - Follow You Fire.
I looked at the 2.55 Novice Handicap Chase at Uttoxeter but it's hard to see past the top 2-3 in the market and nothing with a muddy P2P background to really exploit at a price.
