Wincanton 2.40
Wincanton 2.40 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 3 - 2 miles 5 and 1/2 furlongs - Soft - 13 run
A competitive field and a couple on handicap debut from big Yards are near the top of the betting. Crossing The Bar for the in-form Hobbs Team is possibly the better of the pair on known form and the one to beat whilst Henderson's Blairgowrie hasn't really done anything to suggest this is anything but an OK opening mark.
STRAIGHT SWAP sluiced home in the mud at Chepstow on Thursday, if he runs he will have to shoulder a 7lbs penalty so you'd assume they will only run if the horse is telling them he's ready right away for another run, he'll be a live danger but I'm not as sure about him here as you'd have been at Chepstow. Ouro Branco is mildly interesting on Chase form and looks to be off a decent Hurdles mark as a result, its had a run and could pick up a place if that's the plan, as opposed to just having a spin to get it cherry fit?
The pair I like the most are APPLE ROCK for the in-form Ben Pauling team who has won on soft and heavy off marks of 110 and 117, so no Going excuses and it has more form on the softer Going than most of these, it's had 2 quiet runs but with the Yards form and that assured fitness it really has no excuses off a mark of 117.
A bit more speculative but worth an investment is NICKELSONTHEDIME a sign of returning to form and fitness last time and interesting at the trip and under these conditions on some P2P form over 3 miles. It's one of those that looks both ready to prove its potential and also to follow on next few runs if noy quite delivering today.
