The lack of rain and genuinely good Going has meant a couple who would like some genuine cut in the ground have already been declared non runners.

 

It can be a "trappy" Course in these conditions, although good in the context that the race has often been affected by hock deep mud! 

 

Cap Du Nord for Christian Williams is favourite and although a danger does not strike me as being particularly strong. Cobra De Mai gets its optimum conditions for Caroline Bailey and is race fit but it was pulled up in this last year and I just don't think particularly likes Wincanton. El Presente will be a danger, won this in 2020 but had the benefit of 2 prior runs then and just pipped POTTERMAN on the line and they meant on identical terms again here.

 

I will swing with Alan Kings charge today on those terms as I think it has better form first time out than El Presente, the Yard is in better early season form than Kim Baileys and it just looks a slightly more progressive type.

 

The other one who does jump off the page a bit is SOME CHAOS. Michael Scudamore's charge has had a run already, was 5th in this in 2020 and has also had a wind operation since then and with a bit of race fitness and that operation to just optimise it's chances looks ready to run a bit race in an event they have undoubtedly targeted since last year.
