Carlisle Monday 18th February

Carlisle 2.30 - A Handicap Hurdle of just over 3 miles and stamina will be to the fore on soft Going. A number of old favourites in here who look out of form but could revive at any time, it is one of those races where something will get in to a nice rhythm and have a seasons best run. Agent Louise, Helamis and Turtle Cask all fit that profile perfectly but all tend to run best races in Class 5 and that puts me off enough. Champagne Chaser comes a long way and would be main danger and looked to be running in to some better form last time and one for a Forecast. The one I like though is MISFITS who is on a nice Handicap mark, perfectly capable in this grade and no problems with the Going or the trip.

Carlisle 4.05 is a Handicap Chase over an extended trip. Groundunderepair; Blakemount and Very First Time are worth close consideration and a win for either of those would not surprise. Newtown Lad made the Tracker and I will leave it there as I think there is one better about whom I have more confidence in CULTRAM ABBEY. It is on a very nice Handicap mark and although seen more as a better Ground horse has performed well enough on Heavy Going in the past to have no excuses on today's surface. The Yard are always likely to pull a horse out if they arrive and finds conditions unsuitable, which although frustrating on the day can boost confidence in terms of having a tip. I'm not worried by top weight here; horse can handle it and it is quite a compact handicap with pretty much all above 11 stones.
