Market Rasen 3.50

Market Rasen 3.50 - Handicap Hurdle, Class 4, 2 miles 4 1/2 furlongs (12 run) soft

Trainer Jack Barber is one we flagged up 18 months or so ago and clearly making a name for himself. He trains the second favourite here in Amzac Magic, it is the one they all have to beat, so a small win saver but could never tip anything for a proper punt at a short price like this, and the shorter priced favourite Pride of Lecale is even worse market value, despite the good form of the Yard.

Of the remainder the O'Neill trained Pagero could be well fancied and well backed but I'm not sure the trip on soft going is ideal and whilst an old timer like Bowie, and the gallant little mare Versifier (who SP2A Racing Club Members had a share in at one time and one we visited at Oliver Sherwoods yard) may out run odds, that's quote a big ask for both.

The solid each way proposition would seem to be Evan Williams trained OXWICH BAY, has been running over a trip that seems too short at 2 miles or a shade too far at 3 miles in last 12 months or so but look back 2 years when this horse was progressive on soft Going at around this trip off marks of 115 to 121 and todays mark, a good stone lower in real terms, looks appealing.

Has got form right handed and has had a couple of runs already, so will be fit enough and just tiring and slowing over further when beyond this trip last time out.

I think the percentage each way call of the day and we will hope for a place at least.

TIP - Oxwich Bay - Tricast Perm -:  Pride of Lecale / Amzac Magic (small win saver) - Oxwich Bay
