Galway 6.40

SEAN - Galway 6.40 - Galway Plate - Handicap Chase - Group 3 - 2 miles 6 and 1/2 furlongs - 20 run - Yielding to Soft

A 20 runner field and likely to be run on Yielding to Soft ground.

Plenty in with chances and a couple that have the definite sniff of a "plot".

Kilcruit is a hot favourite and if you want the win saver take it, I'm not convinced it's great value but obviously the one to beat. Final Orders is in the TRACKER and for me the price reflects it's chances but no more than that and I think it's got an obvious chance but doesn't compel me to invest today.

Hollow Games is proven at the trip over hurdles but not fences and I think Elliott has better chances, Hewick is up 12 lbs on last years winning mark and I'm not sure rain will be welcome, it is though a horse who can defy expectations, Fury Road has been too disappointing over a period to back with any degree of confidence. Visionarian is very intriguing upped in trip and would be one that may have the sniff of a plt horse. Easy Game has won 4 small field races since finishing midfield in this last year so has questions to answer in a race full of hurly burly. Foxy Jacks and Hurricane Georgie are very much the types to outrun Odds and with Foxy Jacks likely to take them along for a long way to the start of the final climb before fading I will suggest a small £1 e.w on HURRICANE GEORGIE @ 40/1 who went off at 14/1 before falling at the first last year and who off a light weight at 40-50/1 looks sure to outrun those Odds if getting round.

My big 4 though are - :

ASH TREE MEADOW 4th of 22 in this race last year and VERY lightly raced over an often inadequate trip since, it looks primed and plotted to me off a mark of 145. GABBYS CROSS won the Blazers last year over Course and Distance off a 90 day break HD-B and Rachel arrives off a break of just over 100 days and IF this one can jump round looks to have an excellent chance.

THE GOFFER drops in trip quite significantly and in Class but the last time he ran at this sort of trip he absolutely hosed up off a mark of 138. He's run well enough over further in better races off 148 to suggest the mark won't be an excuse and the faster they go early the better his chances. Finally BORN BY THE SEA who was 5th in The Blazers over Course and Distance last year looks very overpriced, it's had a Flat run and 33/1 looks a silly price on that Blazers run.

Tips (1) Ash Tree Meadow / (2) Gabbys Cross / (3) The Goffer / (4) Born By The Sea
