Galway 6.40

SEAN - Galway 6.40 - Premier Handicap - 1 mile 123 yards - 18 Run - Soft

I don't think we need to over-complicate this race.

Adrian McGuiness throws a large number of runners at it, many seem out of form, they may be out of form, they may equally have been adroitly managed to get down to winning marks for this Meeting and a race he has targeted. A few of his have frightening conjunction between this Fixture, soft Going and specific Draws (of course he has no control over that bit) and suddenly back to winning marks.

This race last year was held on Soft going and against the normal trend HIGH drawn horses dominated.

I looked at CURRENT OPTION who has won off marks of 99 and 105 at 7 furlongs in the past 2 Festivals here and who runs back off 97, Spanish Tenor who also has a high draw in Stall 20, STAR HARBOUR whose 3rd of 26 at the Curragh at the start of the season off a mark of 92 is an excellent pointer to this race and who gets Stall 11, SIR JACK THOMAS winner of this last year managed back to a mark of 89 and drawn in Stall 15 and if you want a low drawn saver SALTONSTALL who is also now very well handicapped.

I'm going to have a flat £2 each way (or win/place on exchange) on each of those horses looking for a net profit to enhance places.

Of the remainder my clear best rated was FINIANS BAY for Mick Halford who is drawn 12, has an interesting profile, proven stamina and looks primed for the race, he was prefered to Casanova who might just be in the grip of the handicapper.
