Limerick

SEAN - "A quick note from me about the performance of the runners on Sunday which has drawn some negative response. No excuses, I got the shape and framing of the race completely wrong. It's important I think to always explain tip reasons in the write-up's and I obviously went on the side of the more proven form than a few who had potential but still a lot to prove at the trip in the conditions. I got it badly wrong and hands up, that will happen sometimes. It's not nice to see tips pulled up but a point I made in the analysis is very relevant in Irish Racing, probably more so than in the UK, as horses are pulled up more often here when chance has gone as the handicapper seems less aware of it than in the UK at times. Hopefully we can get back on winning form today, including one who won for us a few weeks ago and an old favourite who did great things for us a few times last season.

LIMERICK is a quirky right handed undulating track with a climb past the finishing line and then on the back straight they go down hill before climbing back again and it's very easy to commit too soon. A lot of horses win by a big margin with the rest in behind so Course form and an awareness from the jockey is important.

LIMERICK - 2.15 Handicap Hurdle - 3 miles - Heavy 18 run

Very competitive and the heavy Going is likely to be a big factor.

Allbarone for Henry De Bromhead and ridden by Racjhel Blackmore is a progressive type, has some 3 mile P2P form but best runs seem to be on better Going, obvious danger but not for me today.Likeable Chancer unseated here last time going well over the shorter trip of 2 miles and 5 furlongs and that might just be its optimum trip in these conditions, another who is a big threat. Moyode Gold is eased a bit in Grade and that could signal a better run, one with potential and to keep an eye on.

Mountain Hawk for Gavin Cronwell is an ex Tim Easterby inmate who could win races in Ireland but I'm not sure conditions will suit today and at a bigger price Young Dev a Course and Distance winner off 95 and a course winner off 100, should be competitive again here but the mark of 107 although with some relenting from the handicapper just still seems a bit of the tough side. He'll be one to watch and take out of the race if running well.

The one they would all seem to have to beat is Fennos Storm, Course and Distance win last time but up 12lbs and that win was workmanlike rather than visually impressive, so at the Odds, I'm happy to take it on.

CAPACURRY ZAK is a veteran, Course and Distance winner, had a golden spell last winter and made us profit winning or placing a few times. A solid yardstick, fit and a mark of 105 with a 3 lbs claimer gives it absolutely no excuses and a nice price that looks value.

CLASSIC CONCORDE hosed up in a Fairyhouse Chase last time, a bit out of the blu but back in a hurdle with that confidence and off a decent Hurdles mark of 104 with a 7 lbs Claim, I just felt more value than Fennos Storm.

Finally, and some market value could be WHERETHEWINDSBLOW who was unlucky to be bought down time before last, runner up last time off a mark of 93 and a scopey type for Jessie Harrington who looks sure to win races.

TIP - CAPACURRY ZAK - Trackers - Classic Concorde + Wherethewindsblow.

LIMERICK 3.15 - Handicap Hurdle - 2 miles 5 furlongs - Heavy

SPANCIL HILL won for us last time out at 8/1 over fences. That was a very confident pick and it won in canny style and is another horse who is solid and rarely runs below its mark. They come back to Hurdles and on the basis of a Hurdle run in to a place here off 96 last season off a mark of 95 today, no excuses and I'm happy to tip again.

At the last meeting here Vipers Nest just edged out Glenabo Bridge, both reappear, Glanabo gets a 1 lb pull and both will be huge dangers and it may be folly to oppose them, time will tell. Back in the field but running well on seasonal debut was BALLEA FOX, I think it will come on for the run and gets a 6lbs pull with Vipers Nest for 11 lengths. It won a Punchestown Hurdle over 3 miles in Heavy off 89, clearly has stamina and provided it is ridden to take advantage of this stamina, with a nice pace to aim at could stay on up the hill and reverse that form now more tuned up.

Ballyshannon Rose who also won last time out cannot be discounted, neither can Solar Heat for Di Love but that one might not enjoy this trip in heavy Going and a pair to watch closely and track as I think both will be picking up win or place profit soon are Rightback Atya who might need this race and Whoyakodding who has a bit of Course form but another who might just be more primed next time so add those to your Limerick Trackers.
