Plumpton - Monday 1st November
Plumpton 2.45 Handicap Hurdle - Class 3 - 2 miles 4 and 1/2 furlongs - Good to Soft - 14 run
I think it'll be sticky Going here on the soft and tacky side of Good and that will put an emphasis on stamina and also fitness.
We have to take the fitness of a significant number on trust and nothing that is making a seasonal debut has a striking first time out record.
It'll be intriguing to see how Venetias French import, Franco D'Aunou runs here, whilst the Nicolls runner, HELL RUN steps up in trip after a disappointing recent run and will probably be the one they all have to beat.
At bigger odds though and both with recent runs which I see as a significant advantage are a couple who are very well handicapped. both probably not quite the horses they were but perfectly capable in what looks a fairly moderate race in terms of Class 3 level.
BREAKING WAVES has had 2 decent placed runs, should be cherry fit for this off a good mark in mid 120's and although seen more on better ground in recent times has won on heavy and placed on soft so i won't use Going as any kind of excuse. WEST OF THE BRIDGE for the Skeltons and ridden by Bridget Andrews is a very much stable second string in the market but a very high price given it's form and capabilities. It's had 2 quiet runs at Fontwell which is a track that doesn't suit all horses and having last won off a mark of 133 and placed in high 120's, today's mark of 126 into this slightly easier company is eye-catching.
TIP - Breaking Waves / Tracker - West Of The Bridge
Plumpton 4.15 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 2 miles 4 and 1/2 furlongs - 12 run - Good to Soft
Jumping Cats is on a hat trick, looks very solid and if you want a win saver, feel free.
In terms of some each way value Methag who was pulled up last time should be competitive but I think more of a "summer jumper" at around 9-10/1 early LINCOLN LYN who was a promising runner up last time brings some race fitness and the visual impression at least that the step up another 2 furlongs will be a positive step. I'll be disappointed if it's not placed at least.
