Punchestown 12.30
Placespotter - Punchestown 12.30 Handicap Chase - 3miles 1 and 1/2 furlongs - Yielding - 17 run
The top of the market doesn't look that inspiring, All Class will come on for seasonal debut having changed yards but has very little form or experience at the trip and is basically a Flat winner that has won a few Hurdle races up to 2miles 4 furlongs. Brandy Harbour was placed over 2 and 1/2 miles too last time, no great proof of stamina for this being there so I don't see it as a value bet. LAUGHING TRIX is being well supported on the back of a win last time out, it's up 8lbs for that and prior to the win had an inconsistent profile. It looks a solid each way bet but a few in behind it that day get pulls at the weights today and may be some each way value.
FOUR COUNTRY ROADS gets a nice pull in the weights with Laughing Trix, and is solid enough to take advantage and looks solid each way material. WARREEDY is a distance winner winning a Roscommon Chase off 71 and Hurdles off 81 and 86. It was a runner up back Chasing off 88 back at Roscommon in August and off a mark of 90 here would be in with a very solid each way chance.
Wake Up Early has run well to place off marks in the mid 90's in the past, it should improve for a recent seasonal debut but the nagging doubt with this one is a couple of very poor efforts previously at the Course. One that can definitely win a race of this nature though once fully tuned up. Rudy Catrail at a big price won 3 times off marks of 82, 95 and 94 last year, it's been poor since but slowly working its way down the handicap and off 97 here with a 7lbs Claimer up could be seriously competitive. I'm just a bit concerned about the inexperience of the jockey though and have a feeling they want a few more pounds off before striking. One to definitely track though together with Wake Up Early.
At big prices the old time Rightback Atya can't be totally discounted, nor can Capture The Drama and I'm Not Alone but one near the bottom of the market who is worth very close inspection is FR GILLIGANSVOYGE.
FR GILLIGANSVOYGE is very inconsistent but gets a 6lb pull off Laughing Trix for a 5 length defeat last time when Laughing Trix won. It's not the first time the horse has been competitive and at the price worth a small flutter.
I would not put anyone off a small e/w saver on Laughing Trix but will have 1/2 point each way on both WARREEDY and FOUR COUNTRY LANES and a small shrapnel bet on FR GILLIGANSVOYGE to tie in that formline with Laughing trix.
TRACKERS - Warreedy + Four Country Lanes (shrapnel bet on Fr Gilligansvoyge)
