SEAN - Punchestown 3.00 Handicap Hurdle - 2 miles 4 furlongs - 18 run - Good to Yielding (some significant rain possible)

 

A few here that will almost certainly need the run but whose form in the past 12 months when analysed last night has led me to adding them to the TRACKER system for 2023, for transparency (not tips) they are It Could be You and Gaoth Chuil. 

 

At the top of the market Como Park is around 7/2, clearly a strong favourite and if you want a win saver at 7/2 feel free but the step up in trip would be a slight concern for me if heavy rains do come. Tom McGreevy is one I'd have concerns about at the trip, off the mark and that's even before it rains and I'm happy to take that one on. Moonovercloon was unlucky when falling at the last upsides last time, gets a small penalty and just the doubt as to whether that fall has left any physical or mental damage to the horse.

 

I think that both Hereditary Rule and Fortunedefortuna will be better for the runs here and are a pair we'll also keep an eye on today with a view to tracking onwards.

 

With 18 runners and some enhanced places I think there are a few with stronger chances than early price suggests and hopefully like yesterday we can find early value if any of them are backed.

 

GOLD SPEED is fit and in form and although a little exposed handicap mark wise now should be a serious contender here and probably one that will be put away for the winter after today. CLIFFTOP is one I like a lot, it's placed off marks of 105 and 107, runs off 106 and in terms of the mark and Going (rain or not) I can't find any reason not to have a decent stake on it.

 

At bigger Odds and in the TRACKER already is GENERAL CLERMONT, it won off a mark of 95 on penultimate run, struggled with a penalty last time but crucially has some decent big field form here on a few occasions and off a mark of 103 with a good 5lbs Claimer up can be very competitive again. DANCING JEREMY is speculative but it's won races off marks of 99 and 102, runner up off a mark of 104 and 108 would be an OK mark especially IF it rains, the more it does, the better for this one so take the early price.
