SEAN - THURLES 2.53 Handicap Chase - 2 miles 6 furlongs - 12 Run - Soft

 

It rarely gets too deep here but the fences need jumping and not too many really stand out.

 

Moonlight getaway heads the market but it's a Chase debut after just 6 hurdle runs and I can't see the value at 5/2. Rochestown is an obvious danger, runs well at Tramore but was 6th last time after a few scratchy jumps off an increased mark of 97 and whilst the obvious one on form, I'm not at all enticed given the issues last time at the price. Soldier Of Honour is a steady improver over Hurdles and Fences but I'd be a bit worried about stamina up the hills and down the dales here. Pana To Milan is I think a far more accomplished Hurdler and another I think who is stronger over slightly shorter trips.

 

Another Ocana had a Limerick Hurdle win over shorter on penultimate run but looked anything but a natural Chaser on Chase debut last time, Danesfort Mayfly was a tough one to totally discount and would be my backup reserve if either of the following is a non runner for some shrapnel, as one Naas run over Hurdles was very promising but hasn't yet been followed up. 

 

NOT MAY is a 3 mile P2P winner who has done oK over Hurdles but always looked a Chaser, very lightly raced with only 11 Rules runs as a 10 year old but I really do think we've yet to see the best of this one and he has been in my notebook for a while and a definite career best over hurdles last time adds to the confidence. At bigger Odds and the one with probably the most experience but out of form is ENNEMI PUBLIC, this mark of 75 thought with an added 7lbs Claim is really eye watering when you look back just a couple of seasons and it run some of its better races here and arrives fresh after a break but a recent tude opener.
