Thurles 4.40

Sean - Thurles 4.40 - 2 miles 7 furlongs - soft to heavy - 15 run

The original pick for this race was Seangoell who is not declared today.

The other selection was My Newbrook Rose but he was very closely rated with Ballymadun. The prices are a bit lower than they would have been on Thursday but both still represent each way value.

Here is the Analysis of the race leaving out Seangoell and I will stand by those selections today-:

At the head of the market MEMORY OF YOUTH looks very strong, career best runner up last time following a similar run at Naas, best form is at 2 miles 4 furlongs or thereabouts, has placed in a 3 mile P2P , the extended trip is a small niggle, the fact it pulled up here after a jumping error on only previous ourse run is another. Looks solid win value though if 5/2 or more and you may wish to have a win saver accordingly.

Presenting Point was a recent Chase winner in similar conditions, Pulled Up though off a 9lbs penalty over Fences last time, reverts to Hurdles off that last win mark though so a big danger if showing that level of form. Previous hurdles form though is not as convincing and this may be a confidence booster or to make sure no under-lying health issues. At the price I'd see it less confidently than Memory of Youth.

Of the others, Windsor Vixen will be a danger but best form is on better ground and Knock Na Rea who is looking progressive has career best form at around 2 and a half miles and yet to conclusively prove stamina. Queen Of Fame is very interesting and a couple of runner up efforts, both when 100/1 catch the eye. They were both at Punchestown though and the price today will be around a tenth of that, Going and trip are fine but just a question of what the horse can do away from Punchestown, I'm prepared to cond=sider, not as well. Wouldn't be a shock winner but some with better Course credentials interest me.

Chapter Two could outrun them if reproducing some interest P2P form and a pair with some eye catching form at nice double figure Odds are MY NEWBROOK ROSE and BALLYMADUN

My Newbrook Rose was a Course and Distance winner off a mark of 83 and has won a 3 mile P2P and runs off 88. When winning the Trainer said it could handle soft but not heavy. This Course as we have said rarely gets heavy so in that context looks well handicapped and should handle the ground. Ballymallin has won on heavy at 2 miles 4 furlongs, won at a similar trip at Down Royal on Soft. It probably gets the trip and is off a nice mark. It's a very tight call for me to split them but I just favour the CD form of MY NEWBROOK ROSE if it's not too heavy.
