Ascot 3.15

ASCOT 3.15 Class 3 Handicap Chase - 3 miles - Soft - 11 run.

A competitive race and with a few showers about guaranteed to be soft though probably no worse than that.

It's hard to ignore market leader MR MULDOON who is a Course winner, has won in soft and heavy and being from the Newland yard, can't be ignored. A win saver is strongly recommended to cover 2 Tracker bets.

Onefortheroadtom for Harry Fry is definitely one to watch and track. A very nice type but best is on "Good" and I think will need this run. A horse I would be sensibly quiet with on winter ground and possibly aim at a decent Spring handicap if I had the horse. Quaretta is another who may need the run but a horse who can pick up a Chase around the M25 somewhere or down in the South East having won at Fontwell and runner up at Kempton off marks in the low 130's.

I think CALTEX will come on noticeably for seasonal debut and is a horse with nice 3 mile P2P form. It's best runs have been on Heavy and Soft going and a facile winner off a mark of 117 and therefore still scope probably up to a mark of 127.

I had a tough choice deciding between Townshend and WANDRIN STAR both of whom look nice each way value. Townshend made mistakes here last time but has won off a mark of 136 and runs off 137 with a 7lbs Claimer up. WANDRIN STAR though has a good record fresh, that may be best time to catch him. Off for 295 days, had a wind operation in August, proven stamina and can run prominently. David Bass is an excellent reader of pace and adept at running prominently and giving a horse "a blow" and time to catch it's wind and I can see this one running at or near the front for a long way and possibly trying to nick it off the front.

WIN SAVER - Mr Muldoon / Trackers - Caltex + Wandrin Star
