Ascot 4.10
ROBIN - Ascot 4.10 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 3 - 2 miles 7 1/2 furlongs - Soft > Heavy (Rain) 15 run
There are a few very unexposed types in here and it will be interesting to see how they handle conditions, especially those upped in trip and making handicap debuts.
Alan King runs an interesting pair in Wynn House and Grosvenor Course, both upped in trip and GC on handicap debut. Had the going been better we may have had a small investment but he's never been a Trainer to bottom out any horse too soon and we have to accept they may go out with instructions to run as well as they can for as far as they can but then to be treated sensibly.
Guerrain De Vaux was all out last time over 3 miles and may not be that well handicapped as a result; Glencassley has to prove stamina at the trip, Art of Diplomacy is upped 10lbs for a couple of wins off 102 and 110 on far better Going and Imphal too has questions to ask in this type of ground. All 4 are well regarded, have good chances and near or at the top of the market, but a few more caught my eye as better value.
Grand Lord is consistent and does handle mud but is upped in trip and may prefer flatter tracks and I'm not sure this hill in o uncharted territory distance wise will suit it. Atakan for the Tizzard yard that has found some form would be a similar dilemma to the King horses and could be anything stepped up from a moderate Plumpton race.
I think that at the odds BEAN IN TROUBLE is cracking value. It has proven form at further, 3 miles 2 furlongs and in Heavy ground and with a 3 lbs Claimer taking off a mark of 117 is only a couple of pounds above last win mark of 112. I think it'll be very disappointing if the horse isn't bang in contention here.
SIROBBIE keeps defying its mark and although inconsistent we know it gets 3 miles and we know it's OK when the going gets deep. It exceeded expectations last time and with a handy 7lbs claimer on board can run a place again at nice odds. I'M A STARMAN is worth a shrapnel bet I think if you want the option. It has won before on second seasonal run, it will definitely strip fitter for a recent run and with wins off 103 and 109 is a bit of a dark horse for Mark Rimmell who does well with a small string and can get the right horse tuned up to win. I think it's one worth following and tracking onwards whatever happens today.
TIP - Bean In Trouble / Tracker - Sirobbie / shrapnel - I'm A Starman
