Chepstow 3.20

ROBIN - Chepstow 3.20 Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 2 miles 3 and 1/2 furlongs - 11 run - Heavy

The favourite here is Helios Allen who has won over Course and Distance at Class 5 level in soft going off a mark of 105 and placed at Exeter on Good to Soft off a mark of 114. It's running off 115 here, in Class 4 and with no real discernable Heavy form one I'm keen to take on. Garrincha the second favourite has placed in 3 mile P2P races, won at Wetherby on soft Going off a mark of 107, is upped to 114 here and Adam Wedge keeps the ride and would rate a bigger danger but not really value for me so I'll take it on but fear it.

There are 3 I like more; of which VOYAGE DE RETOUR is the most speculative. An ex Nicky Henderson inmate who has gone to Toby lawes who has had 2 winners from his last 4 runners. It's won a P2P over 3 miles on heavy Going, Kevin Brogan rides and claims a handy 3 lbs and it just looks more suited by conditions on the basis of that P2P form than most here.

Straight Swop would be the one I fear most and is another 3 mile P2P winner, if has some P2P form in heavy but has been poor under Rules in heavy going and also had a wind operation. I'd just prefer therefore CASWELL BAY a Course and Distance winner on heavy Going off a mark of 114 around 2 years ago, it's dropped back to a winnable mark of 111 and Evan Williams sticks daughter isabel up who claims another 5lbs. You could argue Adam Wedge has jumped ship but equally say that with the 5lbs Claim that Caswell Bay is even better handicapped so I don't see Wedge not riding for Evan on this occasion as a negative.
