Doncaster 3.35

ROBIN T - Doncaster 3.35 Handicap Chase - Class 2 - 3 miles 2 furlongs - 11 run

There are some bubbles to burst here and I'm going to take a "contrarian view" on the basis that it is very difficult to run up long winning runs these days as quite simply the Handicapper dives in and raises marks far quicker and far more exuberantly than in the past.

We see Fortified Bay on a trble after wins at Market Rasen off 120 and Newcastle off 125 arriving here off a mark of 132 for Jennie Candlish. Then we have Boldmere with 2 wins and a fall when almost certain to win at the last for Caroline Bailey, wins off 123 and 132 and now up to 142 and yet to prove it can handle heavy Going. Finally, add to the mix Worty Farm, for the master Paul Nicholls, is he just a Wincanton Horse??..wins off 125 and 130 and now up to 137. The form Nicholls is in you should probably have a saver bet on anything he sends out, and that may be a wise move here.

However, on the "contrarian basis" that those 3 are now over handicapped and logic dictates have won enough in recent months I give you the aptly named CAPTAIN CHAOS. Trip, Going, Handicap mark all ideal and in win range and has bags of proven stamina. I take him to upset the applecart today against all the evidence laid out. It's a risk I know but hopefully the logic makes the case and the result is the right one for us!
