Kelso 1.15

Kelso 1.15 The Borders National over 4 miles and 1/2 furong on soft>heavy Going and sure to be a real slog. I looked and narrowed down to around 6 of with Achill Road Boy and Anteros discarded as not quite good enough in this company. BIG RIVER could be a nice long term prospect but the profile suggests both may need bother ground and also won't be bottomed out here, once to watch and track in to the Spring races.

JUST YOUR TYPE ran well over distances at the end of last season and may need better Going than this and another you suspect they won't want to bottom out quite yet and like BIG RIVER one to track forwards in to the Spring as a progressive horse who will win races.

That leaves me with the 4th and 5th in the race last year TOTAL ASSETS and DAWSON CITY both proven at the trip, both experienced Chasers off nice marks who prefer these heavier conditions. Both got outpaced last year on Good to Soft but finished well and I think conditions ideal for both in what will be a far more stamina test this time.

I will also have a TRACKER bet on WESTSTREET who was progressive over these trips at end of last season, probably needed seasonal debut. I think it will be run deeper in to the race than the likes of Big River and Just Your Type but just a slight niggle about the Handicap mark.

TIPS - TOTAL ASSETS + DAWSON CITY - Tracker WESTSTREET @ 10/1 (nice small Tricast Perm too)
