Ludlow 2.30

Ludlow 2.30 - Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 2 miles 5 furlongs - Heavy

A decent field in here and both of the Evan Williams runners deserve a mention. Holly James is ridden by Adam Wedge, has been poor sime runner up over this trip at Warwick off a mark of 114, clearly handles the trip, soft and heavy Going and one I will track as may be coming in to some form. The other one is Virginia Chick, who is exposed and seems out of form but the handicap mark jumps off the page, Isobel Williams takes 5 lbs off and worth the Claim, has proven stamina often running over further, fine on the ground has won off 114, 123 and 127 and back on 113 with that Claim should out run those Odds providing it doesn't get detached and lose interest. IF you fancy a small side stake on something at a price and I know from comments that many of you do - a few bob might be a sound investment.

Samsons Reach and Tip Top Cat get first time aids, a tongue tie for Simons and a Visor for the Cat, they would not be far away if those aids eek out a bit of improvement.

At the head of the market Frenchy Du Large steps up in trip, Seymour Sax is not highly convincing yet at this trip and Butlers Brief who likes to front run is up 9lbs for a narrow and tight win all out , last time out. I visualise the latter running the finish out of the other pair and setting it up for a finisher, hence the samm interest in VIRGINIA CHICK.

My biggest confidence though surrounds ROCKATHOM a nice unexposed horse from the Phillip Hobbs yard. Promise and finished well over 2 miles 4 furlongs at Huntingdon, faded near close over 2 miles 7 furlongs at Market Rasen having run very well past this intermediate trip. The pace angles will help and if getting a clear round this possibly progressive horse looks good value and no excuses about trip, Going or the mark.

TIP - ROACKATHOM (small side stake on Virginia Chick @ 14/1 - odds to 4th bookie only - if it floats your boat)
