Newbury 2.35

Newbury 2.35 - Handicap Chase - Class 3 - 3 miles 2 furlongs - 14 run Soft > Heavy

A competitive race with plenty in with chances but one where I fancy  a pair with a bit of market value.

Crypto is up in trip and a typical Venetia Williams dark horse, hard to quantify but the market usually finds them here so I will fear it but swerve it for tip purposes. Full Back is top weight, takes a drop in Class for the very much in-form Gary Moore yard, it's best form is in smaller fields than this and another I will take on but clearly it's a big danger if runnin to potential. Gericault Roque is a rapid improver for the Pipes, looks progressive but another I think possibly over-backed, we'll see by mid afternoon!

Innisfree Lad ran better last time for David Dennis, drops back in trip and could run a decent race but I'm not sure it ideally wants it this wet and heavy, L'Air Du Vent is currently out of form for the Tizzards but on a nice declining mark as a result, I'd be looking for a bit more evidence that it has found a level it can be competitive off once again; On Call may now be in the grip of the Handicapper after some excellent runs; Run To Milan has a race of this type in him but I'd suggest on better ground than this, Saint Palais is up another 10lbs and has gone from mark of 118 to 135 today as a result and although clearly progressing my visual interpretation of the form suggests this may be a few pounds too much. Truckin Away is another who can win races of this type but who may need a few pounds now off the handicapper to have a more serious chance.

Rebecca Curtis runs an interesting pair, WAYFINDER may just need this off a break of 409 days but was very upwardly mobile before the break and one I would definitely suggest putting in your Tracker and following closely in 2022 and I think some shrapnel on TINKERS HILL TOMMY may be a good speculative punt, it's fallen and been pulled up on 2 recent runs but off a nice mark and one I can see coming on and popping in a better effort at big odds here.

My main selections though are NESTOR PARK who was runner up in this last year, has had a quiet season so far but Ben Pauling's team are in fine form after a quiet spell and I think the horse has been primed for this race since last years renewal. I also can't resist a punt on COBOLOBO who has had a run after a wind operation that showed considerable promise until the horse showed the need for the run and was treated kindly, that should bring him close to race fitness, and on the form of late 2020 when going 2-1-2 off marks from 127 to 136, I think definitely one to follow in to 2022 but worth an investment today too.

TIP - Nestor Park / Tracker - Cobolobo ( shrapnel if you wish on Tinkers Hill Tommy)
