Newbury 2.55

Newbury 2.55 CLONDAW CIAN - 1/2 point each way - (consider Dingo Dollar / Tobefair in small Tricast Perm)

I can't find very many in here who have assured fitness or guaranteed to run well fresh, and with proven stamina on Ground that will have at least some "soft" in it, possibly a bit softer than we think. I narrowed down to 3 of which DINGO DOLLAR intrigues me a lot. His Chase form would see this as a decent mark, he progressed over Hurdles before Chasing, has won at the Course and at the Distance, he went straight to Fences last term, so I can't decipher whether this is nothing more than a "training run" or whether he is "jumping out of his box at home" and they want to get some freshness out of him and actually fancy their chances. I can't tip him for those reasons but would be no surprise if he ran a belter if you want a bit of loose change on him. TOBEFAIR has slipped now to a very attractive mark and will likely be aimed at Cheltenham, another whose fitness has to be taken on trust and again, a big run would be no surprise.

One who has race fitness, off a nice mark; no stamina or Going concerns is CLONDAW CIAN. Won a 3 mile Point 2 Point on soft, won over 2 miles and 5 furlongs up the Cheltenham hill in November 2016, runner up in a decent 3 mile Handicap Hurdle at Ascot in November last year, both off marks of 130, is very much a horse with an "Autumn profile" and the benefit of a run (I fancy this one more than 2 x Hobbs runners who have also had a run); Gavin Sheehan rides and that is a plus and a mark of 133 with that little bit of proven fitness tempts me in today.
