Robin - Exeter 2.40

ROBIN - Exeter 2.40 Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 2 miles 2 and 1/2 furlongs - Soft - 16 declared to run

A competitive race that may turn out to be informative regarding a number of less exposed horses but conditions may suit a few of the more exposed types.

Seventeen O Four for David Pipe is a worthy favourite but this is a step up in trip for this ex Flat and Flat bred type and the hill may stretch its stamina and will power and at the price I'm comfortable to swerve it. Mavers House is also well supported in the market but has been Pulled Up on the last 2 starts and I'd be looking for a more tangible form evidence at the price. Tremwedge for Alan King may just need this run, many of KIngs do improve after seasonal debut fitness wise and has yet to venture beyond 2 miles but may be one to follow and add to your Trackers after the race if showing promise at this new trip.

Born In Borris for the Tizzards who look to be stirring in to a bit of form is an ex 3 mile P2P horse who has been Chasing and definitely one to follow and like Cawthorne Lad for Jonjo who has won a Chase over 2 miles 5 furlongs and also back hurdling, looks sure to win races but hopefully not today as I think both are here just to get a run in to them before venturing back over fences and worth tracking on that basis.

Stratton Oakmont is in the Tracker as a long term prospect and whilst I don't expect too much today is one we hope will pay it's way in time and Paradise Island another of the large number of ex French recruits for David Pipe is another we'll watch with interest in here.

In terms of a financial investment, Tizzards other runner NO HUBS NO HOBBS ran very well over further last time and was prominent at this kind of distance before fading. It's likely to have benefitted from that run and a similar effort would take it very close here. NICKELSONTHEDIME for Kayley Woolacott went into the Tracker after being tipped and running well enough early in December. It also drops in trip and should benefit from that and this stiffer track and one we like a lot.

At bigger odds and for the shrapnel bet it's hard not to like the profile of DAYTIME AHEAD. It's exposed form but clearly there to consider. Its won off marks of 89-102-103 and 105 for Ron Hodges and won over Course and Course and Distance too and has had a couple of runs which are usually needed and gets in here off a very appealing mark of 90 with a 7lbs Claim. It should certainly outrun odds and give us a sporting chance of an enhanced place at big odds.
