Sunday 11th September
ROBIN - Chepstow 4.55 Handicap - Class 6 - 1 mile - 14 run - Soft
Very few of these have proven form in soft going or at the course with its undulations.
Certainly LETTER OF THE LAW is well worth a £1 e/w bet (possibly more?) it won at Leicester last year up the steep incline at 7 furlongs off a mark of 68 on soft ground, was a staying on 3rd here earlier this season off a mark of 58 in soft going and the early price screams out to be grabbed.
Four Feet has some soft ground turf form of interest but a couple of AW wins have rather shot it's mark and I just think it's too high in the handicap as a result but a genuine danger. Albus Anne is a 3 year old whose best run was at Leicester on soft over 7 furlongs and that gives it a chance here. I don't think Accrington Stanley is great value in these conditions and Zealot is up 10lbs for an AW win
The standout pair are MOUNTAIN ASH whose sole win was at this trip on soft ground and who has run with credit at the Course on a number of occasions. DANNY BLEU bolted in for John Spearing at nice odds here over 7 furlongs last time at 25/1 on soft ground, it's only penalised a pound, wasn't stopping at the line, has run over a mile and has a milers pedigree. I'm surprised at the generous Odds as a result.
