Sunday 12th November
Robin Taylor - Ffos Llas 2.30 9 Thegirlfrommilan @ 11/1 (Lad/B365/Coral) / 7 Bassarbad @ 16/1 - both 1/2 point each way
3 miles round Ffos Llas in deep ground and although strong I just can't see any value in PINK GIN in these conditions,
it should win, but at 4/1 or lower; we will look for each way value. They say "every horse has its day" and in conditions
like this, I tend to look less at "consistency" and more at those "awkward sorts" who can look excellent occasionally and
make you look like a right chump, for the next 4-5 runs. I think there is a value in a could like that here.
THEGIRLFROMMILAN has won twice over 3 miles on the Point 2 Point fields in Ireland, so no doubt about stamina;
hopefully they will just let it run its own race and I feel it can gallop on down the long straight and pick those with less
or no form at 3 miles off one by one. Trainer Rebecca Curtis has had a bad run, her horses were never right last season;
and she has lot some good horses as a result. I do think her geographic extremity is a burden two her and she is facing
the first mini crisis of what has been a stellar rise, having a few friends who have horses with her, I know there is no lack
of hard work down there, and she just needs a bit of luck and a few winners to kick start her season.
BASSARBAD is aptly named as he is prone to poor runs and not always 100% genuine, however, when he is on his
game he can and has won off very close to this mark (Warwick off 106) and has won at the trip and clearly gets it. he never
went a yard on seasonal debut, after a bad first fence blunder; so getting in to a rhythm will be key and with Alan Johns
returning to the saddle and the yard in form, we will hope it is a "going day"; if it is the 16/1 looks barmy!
