Wincanton 1.50
Robin - Wincanton 1.50 Handicap Hurdle Mares - Class 2 15 run - 2 miles 5 1/2 furlongs
The close working relationship between The Barber Family and Paul Nicholls means that the Yard will always seek to target this race named in memory of Richard Barber.
For that and many other reasons it is impossible not to have a "win saver" bet on DANSE IDOL whose 3 mile P2P winning form and form over Hurdles to date makes it clearly the one to beat and what are actually quite sensible Odds (not too short currently) and with some rain about in the South West and proven ability on softening going and stamina obvious chances.
Of the remainder i narrowed down to a likely pair assuming the rain does come and they are DEPUTYS OSCAR another 3 mile P2P winner on soft, who is an in form and recent winner, steps up in Class here but the handicapper has not been tough, up just 2 lbs for the win and the confidence of that run and assured race fitness should see her very competitive again.
For the tip however, we will go with the more exposed but nonetheless well handicapped DUHALLOW GESTURE, a 3 miles P2P and NHFlat winner so got stamina and tactical speed also shown good form over Hurdles, can handle anything from soft to Good in the Going scale, race fit after a seasonal debut over Chase fences at Worcester that are glorified hurdles and one with the kind of profile that looks like this race is a plan, rather than a stepping stone to something else, always worth considering that at this stage of the season.
TIP -: DANSE IDOL - win saver + DUHALLOW GESTURE and Tricast Perm with Deputys Oscar.
TRACKER - Robin is very keen on ROYAL VACATION e/w in the Badger Chase.
