Wincanton 2.20
WINCANTON 2.20 - Class 3 - 3 miles 1 furlong + 30 yards (12 run) Soft
A very nice race and a competitive field that will take some sorting and weeding out.
I narrowed the 12 down to a short list of 6 and off those came Conningsby, an improving horse who will win races but I feel over-clobbered by the Handicapper and may just need a few races to come back to a fair mark. Wandrin Star is the top weight, a Course winner but another who I feel has just too much weight at the minute and probably best on Going with Good in the description. Moving In Style heads some markets and not hard to understand why on consistency but another who I feel might just prefer slightly better Going and I'm not convinced quite as good right handed as it is left handed. All are dangers but the following 3 were ones I have more confidence in.
WORTHY FARM from the powerhouse Nicholls stable won over Course and Distance on Boxing Day in first time blinkers. That was a show of intent from a horse who has promised more than it had delivered up to that point. Question has to be will the blinkers work again, if so, one to beat and a price strong enough to have a win bet or crafty each way saver.
POP ROCKSTAR is a nice Tracker bet at decent odds. Won Class 3 races off marks of 118 and then 130, then went up in weights again and has gradually come down to a mark of 135. This is definitely easier than last 2 assignments and with Jonjo junior up for his dad I think a race that the horse has no excuses in and a bigger and better performance can be expected.
For the Tricast Perm I will side with Reikers Island, Course and Distance winner off 124 then another one clobbered by the handicapper, struggled with marks up to 140 after that, gradually getting some help from the handicapper and 132 looks more realistic and whatever happens today, a horse to follow strongly as and when that figure goes below 130.
TIP - WORTHY FARM / TRACKER - POP ROCKSTAR - Tricast Reikers Island
