Downpatrick 3.10 + 3.40

Downpatrick 3.10 Ulster National 3 miles 4 1/2 furlongs - 15 run (maximum number) Soft going and reserves so enhanced Odds on show are guaranteed

The winner last year Amaulino tries again but much tougher than last year and I think a repeat unlikely. Jimmll from the in form Gavin Cromwell yard won nicely last time but is up a stone, a horse who could be anything but I think a bit too short on actual proven form. Cheb De Kevinlou should run well and give stablemate IFYOUCATCHMENOW most to do, of the pair I would prefer IFYOUCATCHMENOW and will have a win saver at around 7/2 on that one.

That leaves me with a Tip and a Tracker. We've been watching GENERAL PRINCIPLE gradually run itself back in to form, I don't think it'll ever reach the heights of that never to be forgotten Irish National win in 2018 when we creamed the top 6 and a £6000 Tricast but the horse has clearly found a bit of new zest after a season or so in the doldrums. If it runs up to recent improved form it should be competitive and looking for an enhanced place at nice e/w Odds.

I looked at those with longer odds very carefully and of them SPACE CADET looks the most interesting. Still only a 10 year old, another who may never reach its previous peak but still running well enough to think it's not impossible the cards will fall right again one day. nice mark, proven stamina, if it gets in to a rhythm round this very tight track it could easily outrun odds and run on in to a place.

TIP - GENERAL PRINCIPLE / Tracker - Space Cadet (win saver - Ifyoucatchmenow)

Downpatrick 3.40 Handicap Chase 2 miles 3 furlongs - 15 run Soft...

A few in here are very unexposed so big dangers. Whydah for Jessie Harrington and especially Yeates Mardy for Gavin Cromwell. The main negative for both is the Going, both look to be Good ground horses, so don't forget to add to your Trackers.

Da Baba Elephant is fairly well known to us having run good races in the UK at summer tracks like Worcester and Market Rasen and also Sedgefield and another who may just find this Going a bit too sticky. GOLDEN SUNSET @ 9/2 looks the one to beat if you want a small saver and I can't honestly TIP anything in the race with the necessary confidence other than that one but a couple are worthy of a Tracker bet for those who play the Trackers..

CAPTURE THE DRAMA looks to be running in to a bit of form albeit at a modest level, a veteran who gets the right trip here and off a nice mark. The other one is SOLAR LOVE, always interested in anything Mrs Love runs up in the Provinces this horse drops in Class, and back with her after a break away when they did seem to run the horse over trips too short, not sure why, we might find out today!!!!!!...

TRACKER - Capture The Drama / Solar Heat - both 1/2 point each way
