Market Rasen 3.45 - Handicap Class 4 - 12 run - Good to Soft - 3 miles
A competitive looking race where the favourite Jeffreys Cross from the Skelton yard who has had one run since a near 600 day break for injury after a promising Haydock win in April 2023 looks the one to beat but questions still to be fully answered about his actual form. Eyed is a Course winner on penultimate run over shorter who fell last time out and who may not be great market value. Geryvill has yet to click so far this season and has a few poor efforts here even when in better form, Knockanore may be best at Uttoxeter, a very different track to this one and Magical Escape a promising Hurdler who was found to be lame last time, may be the biggest threat of all in terms of potential but one I'd ideally like to be sure is 100% fit. At big Odds I will add Chosen Templar to my TRACKER a very unexposed tyor they have allowed to mature and who does seem to prefer right handed Courses.
My top 2 rated though are PEEJAYBEE a Course winner and a winner over this trip elsewhere, the Bowens do very well here and it's interesting that Sean avoids the Berkshire jamboree today for rides here in the Jockey Championship Chase. A typically inconsistent Bowen horse who just looks and feels ready to click. AWAYTHELAD is definitely best going right handed, the trip is within range and it's a nice competitive mark and Ben Pauling is starting to click again and can be a winning machine when his string get going. Windsor 4.08 - Handicap Chase - Class 3 - 2 miles 6 furlongs - Soft - 14 run
I watched the first meeting here with interest and have watched it back and I do think the course will suit front running types and any who have had a run round it may have an early advantage. It's a bit like Uttoxeter although the kink is in the home and not the back straight and I do think it'll suit Course experts in time.
I'm therefore drawn to JUPITER DE GITE whose front running style and drop back in trip may be ideal here and BALLYCAMUS a Course winner at the first meeting, has won at this trip and I just feel Sam Twiston-Davies will love this Track with his ability to run a horse up with the pace but to also save a little. My third rated IF we have a non runner would be Carbon KIng,a Uttoxeter specialist who might just be running back in to some form.
I don't leave the likes of Hasthing, Hititi, Hold Up La Colime or Tyre Kicker and Hugos New Horse lightly, but I just think on the limited evidence that the types that I am on may be best suited by the Track. (Racing Journo)
